The Peloponnese Region’s tourism destinations and thematic travel products will be promoted in 2022 through a new 1.95-million-euro program.
Presented recently to local authorities and tourism stakeholders by Peloponnese Deputy Governor responsible for tourism Anna Kalogeropoulou, the promotional program covers a wide range of activities.
According to Kalogeropoulou, the new program aims to enhance brand awareness for the destination, extend the season through the promotion of thematic tourism forms, and increase satisfaction rates among travelers.
The new tourism promotion program for the Peloponnese includes the following seven actions:
– participation in tourism and agrifood exhibitions – physical, digital or hybrid
– advertising through digital and traditional media
– upgrade and management of digital tourism communication channels
– organization of events and festivals including the Peloponnese Gastronomy Festival
– production of promotional content (audiovisual material, photos, texts etc)
– development of studies for (a) the update of the region’s tourism communication identity, (b) the establishment of a destination management organization, (c) the development of thematic tourism products such as gastronomy, ecotourism and rural tourism.
– public relations activities including fam trips, roadshows and conferences.
During the meeting, Peloponnese Governor Panagiotis Nikas expressed his optimism that 2022 could be a good year for Greek tourism taking into account the circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Governor Nikas highlighted that the region aims to increase the number of its visitors through activities related to safe transport and the promotion of monuments and points of natural beauty.
Also present at the meeting was Peloponnese Tourism Organization President Konstantinos Marinakos.
Speaking recently to Greek online magazine Hotel & Restaurant, he said the region’s tourism actions for 2022 should also focus on mild development tourism and the agrifood sector for the benefit of many family-run business units operating in the Peloponnese.
