Avis Supports Athens’ Help at Home Plus Program
Car rental company Avis has joined forces with the Municipality of Athens to support vulnerable groups through the city’s “Help at Home Plus” program, amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Launched in April, the program was designed with the help of experts and based on the municipality’s existing “Help at Home” program to assist with the needs of Athens’ residents that are affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
To support its operation, Avis has offered 10 vehicles for the transportation of the program’s workers and volunteers.
The program’s services are offered at home by social workers, medical staff and the program’s assistants, and include counseling, medical care, as well as the delivery of basic goods such as medicines and groceries.
Since the start of the pandemic, Avis has actively participated in the collective efforts to deal with the health crisis. The company has also offered 250 vehicles to support the operation of the mobile health units of Greece’s National Public Health Organization (EODY).
Launched in April, EODY’s “Special Purpose Mobile Health Units”, known as KOMY, is a network of medical professionals offering healthcare services at home on a 24-hour basis.
With a fleet of over 38,000 vehicles, Avis provides car rental and leasing services and has a network of 80 stations in Greece.
