The Greek government says it will deploy mobile vaccination units in order to facilitate hotel workers that wish to get vaccinated against the coronavirus (Covid-19).

Greek Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias on Sunday said that large hotel units can contact the ministry and request for a mobile vaccination unit to come to their premises and vaccinate their staff.

“Based on the number of employees, we will either recruit mobile teams to vaccinate staff at the workplace, or facilitate scheduling appointments at vaccination centers,” Kikilias said.

According to the health minister, the measure is aimed to make the vaccination process easier for workers in tourism that want to get the jab but do not have the time due to their work schedule..

The announcement initially came from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his official visit to Crete on Friday. The Greek PM had proposed for the initiative to begin with the large hotel units on Crete.

“Let’s try this in order to convince the employees in tourism that they have to take this step,” PM Mitsotakis said.

It is reminded that unvaccinated workers in Greece’s tourism sector are obliged to test for Covid-19 twice a week.
