Drive-in Cinema Festival to Open in Athens

A brand new drive-in cinema is coming this summer to the southern suburb of Glyfada in Athens to offer unique movie night experiences under the stars.
The Μunicipality of Glyfada said in an announcement that it plans to hold a summer drive-in cinema festival at the facilities of the Glyfada Golf Course, starting on June 1.
“The nostalgia of drive-in cinema returns,” Glyfada Mayor Giorgos Papanikolaou said.
The municipality said that the drive-in will operate in line with the state’s guidelines for the protection of public health against the Covid-19 pandemic, giving moviegoers the opportunity to experience a movie from the comfort of their own vehicle.
Instead of a ticket fee, the municipality is asking moviegoers to instead offer groceries and medicines to be provided to its social services.
The opening of the summer drive-in cinema coincides with the opening of open-air cinemas in Greece on June 1.
