Vravrona

A glance at history: Vravrona is one of the most important archaeological sites in Attica. It has been inhabited since the Bronze Age and was one of the 20 municipalities that got together to make up the Athenian State. It gradually developed into a place of worship to Artemis where a temple dedicated to the goddess was built.

• The Sanctuary of Artemis
The Sanctuary of Artemis is located in the ancient site of Vravrona. Artemis was the goddess of nature and hunting, women and childbearing. The temple is Doric in style, built in the 6th century BC and is considered one of the oldest and most revered sanctuaries in Attica. Today only its foundations are preserved where the worshiping statue of the goddess was.
• The Archaeological Museum of Vravrona
In the Archaeological Museum of Vravrona there are findings and sculptures from the Early Bronze Age to the Roman period and depict the sacred character of the area.
• Beaches
The organized beaches of Vravrona compared to the beaches of Artemida are quieter in some places where there are rocks, stones and their water are deeper.
• Vravrona wetland
The Vravrona wetland is situated on the south-east coastline of Attica in the Municipality of Markopoulo and is one of few remaining in Attica. An area of great ecological importance, included in the Natura 2000 network, it combines a landscape of great beauty, rich in biodiversity especially for birds.

Sounio

In the magical Cape of Sounio, known for its millennial history and breath taking views of the never ending blue of the Aegean sea and its unique sunset, visitors will be able to admire the imposing Temple of Poseidon. The Temple was dedicated to the God of the sea Poseidon and it one of the most important sights and archaeological sites of Attica as it was built around 440 BC in Doric style.
