Greece Adds Covid-19 Restrictions to More Destinations
Starting Tuesday (August 25) additional precautionary measures will apply to a number of Greek regions, islands and cities following a decision by health authorities aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.
More specifically, according to the latest decision published in the Government Gazette, the following regions, cities and islands will be required by law to implement a 50-person cap on all public (indoors or outside) or social events, including weddings, funerals, ceremonies and all relevant side events: the regions of Attica, Crete, and Eastern Macedonia-Thrace; the peripheral units of Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Larissa, Corfu, Karditsa, Pella and Pieria; the municipalities of Mykonos, Paros, Thira (Santorini), Volos, Katerini, Rhodes, Antiparos, Zakynthos and Kos.
It should be noted that a midnight-7am curfew is in effect for restaurants, clubs, and entertainment venues in these areas.
Delivery and take away services are exempt from the regulation and are allowed to offer services between midnight and 7am maintaining however a 1.56 meter distance between customers. Provision of alcohol is not allowed in any case.
Special rules apply to restaurants, theaters, cinemas, and to live audio-visual events (dance and music performances).
Violation of the restrictions in these areas will be penalized with fines: event participants 150 euros; 3,000 to 5,000 euros for business owners or party organizers as well as suspension of operations for 15 days; and delivery or takeaway services providers fines starting at 10,000 euros and suspension of operations for three to 20 days.
The curfew and measures will be in effect until August 31.
