Greece Still on UK’s ‘Amber List’ Requiring Quarantine for Non-Vaccinated

The UK decided this week to keep Greece on its “amber list”, which means that returning non-vaccinated travelers or those planning to visit Britain will be required to quarantine for 10 days to limit the spread of Covid-19.
Changes to the revised list go into effect at 4am on Monday, August 30.
According to the latest review of its traffic-light travel system, the UK has decided to keep main European destinations such as Greece, Spain, France, and Portugal with the exception of Azores on the amber list.
UK authorities moved seven countries from amber to the “green list” for quarantine-free travel. These are the Azores (Portugal), Canada, Denmark, Finland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, and Switzerland.
Despite welcoming a large number of visitors from the UK, Greece was not moved from amber to green due to a surge in Covid cases over the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, Thailand and Montenegro were added to the “red list”, which also includes Turkey – considered to be among the highest-risk destinations.
According to the UK government, the decision reflects “the increased case rates in these countries and the higher risk that travel from these countries poses to UK public health”.
It is reminded that travelers returning from amber-listed countries such as Greece are required to take a pre-departure test three days before returning as well as a PCR test on or before day two of their return.
Those who are not fully vaccinated must also self-isolate for 10 days and take a second PCR test on day eight of their return.
