Travel agents from Italy will have the chance to experience Greek hospitality during their stay in Greece for the annual conference of the Italian Federation of Travel & Tourism Associations (FIAVET) to be held on Skiathos during June 10-13.

Taking place in Greece for the first time, FIAVET’s 2021 conference will he held under the organization of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in collaboration with the Municipality of Skiathos and under the auspices of the Greek Tourism Ministry and the support of the Region of Thessaly.

“This conference will be an excellent opportunity to promote our country as the safest tourism destination to one of Europe’s largest markets,” the GNTO said in an announcement on Wednesday.

FIAVET’s 2021 conference on Skiathos will be attended by 50 people including FIAVET member travel agents from all over Italy; Marco Rizzone, member of the Italian Parliament for Trade and Tourism; Federica Isotta Squeri, Policy Officer for Tourism and Environment at the Italian General Confederation of Enterprises; Nicola Bonacchi, Vice president International Markets for Alitalia; and Lepnarso Massa, Managing Director MSC Crociere Italy.

“It is a great honor for us to be in Greece during this important moment of the opening of tourism. We are sure that Italians will find Greece a safe destination that will welcome them with open arms,” FIAVET President Ivana Jelinic said.

According to the GNTO, Italians traditionally prefer holidays in Greece due to its cultural and gastronomic wealth and its landscapes of natural beauty. In 2019 some 1.5 million visitors from Italy came to Greece for their holidays.

“FIAVET’s annual conference that will take place on Skiathos, with the support of GNTO, is a vote of confidence in Greece and an excellent opportunity to promote our country to Italy, while showing the clear will of both countries to restart tourism during an extremely critical time,” GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis said.

“Greece has been and remains a destination that can offer Italian visitors everything they are looking for this year,” he added.

Before and after the conference, delegates will have the opportunity to tour Skiathos and visit the island’s historic center, the Monastery of Evangelistria and a local winery.

Italian journalists from the Italian news agency ASKAnews and major Italian media (ADN KRONOS, MILANO FINANZA, IL SOLE 24 ORE, IL TEMPO) will also attend the conference.
