Historic ‘Aeginitikon Arhontikon’ Hotel on Aegina Enters New Era

The Aeginitikon Arhontikon, one of the most historical hotels on the Greek island of Aegina, is under new ownership and will undergo a series of upgrades for its re-introduction to the travel market.

The new owner, Drosos Togias, aims to restore the historic “feel” of the hotel and offer guests top notch services and experiences.

The building in which Aeginitikon Arhontikon stands was built in 1700 and initially served as a residence. In the early 1900s the building was renovated and it expanded, acquiring its neoclassical style. In 1987 Aeginitikon Archontikon was fully renovated and turned into a traditional hotel by Fotis Voulgarakis.

Among the hotel’s famous guests was the famous Greek poet Kostas Varnalis who resided there for two years.

The Aeginitikon Arhontikon consists of 12 rooms with artistically-painted ceilings. The interior doors and the floor on the first level are wooden.

On the ground floor of the neoclassical building there are two courtyards, built in such a way that there is always shade. They are decorated with stone seats and various old traditional pieces of furniture.

The Aeginitikon Arhontikon will operate under the management of Innfaith Hospitality.
