Ministry to Launch ‘Visit Greece App’ for Travelers in the post-Covid-19 Era
The Greek Tourism Ministry plans to launch a new “Visit Greece” mobile application that will provide travelers with useful information during their trip to Greece in the post-COVID-19 era.
Speaking during the Delphi Economic Forum 2020 on Thursday, Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis said that Greece, for the first time, has developed a travel app to provide information to travellers on the measures and health protocols currently in place, as well as on their obligations (as visitors) in the post-COVID-19 period.
In addition, the app will provide travelers with a number of options through augmented reality including priceless experiences, special offers and the chance to search for local businesses online.
“Safety is the first requirement for people to visit Greece… This app will provide visitors with a sense of safety and the tools they need to really be and feel safe,” Theoharis said.
The Visit Greece application was developed in collaboration with Mastercard among other organizations.
The app will be officially presented by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during a scheduled visit to Santorini over the weekend, where he will officially announce the re-opening of Greece after Covid-19 and the launch of the tourism season.
The 5th Delphi Economic Forum 2020 is currently taking place online until June 12.
Theoharis participated in a panel discussion titled, “Techonolgy and data: Helping tourism make headway after the standstill”, along with Maria Founta, Country Marketing Manager Greece, Romania, Ukraine, Google; Aspa Palimeri, Country Manager, Greece, Cyprus and Malta, Mastercard; Vangelis Vlachos, CEO, Athens Development & Destinations Management Agency; and Maria Theofanopoulou, Owner, Greek Travel Pages.
