
New Covid-19 Measures Announced for All Areas in Greece
Aiming to curb the rising spread of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Greece, the country’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Saturday announced new month-long measures for the whole country.
Addressing the Greek public in national broadcast, PM Mitsotakis said that as of 6 am Tuesday, November 3, Greece will be divided into two risk zones (from the four at the moment) and that the following measures will be in force for one month:
A. Monitoring zone (green and yellow areas on the risk-assessment map)
Measures
– Mandatory use of masks in all public spaces (indoors and outdoors).
– Late night curfew from 12 midnight to 5 am.
– Mandatory teleworking for the 50 percent of employees in the private and public sector
– University lessons will take place only via tele-education.
– All public gatherings are banned.

B. High-risk zone (orange and red areas on the risk-assessment map)
Measures
– Suspension of the operation of restaurants (excluding delivery and take away services).
– Suspension of the operation of cafes, bars, cinemas, museums and theaters.
– Suspension of the operation of indoor gyms.
All previously announced measures for orange and red areas remain in force
The Greek PM underlined that traveling is allowed from one region to another.
It is noted that the regional unit of Attica is in ‘orange’ status and Thessaloniki recently moved to ‘red’ risk level on Greece’s risk-assessment map.
The National Public Health Organization (EODY) on Thursday reported 1,690 new Covid-19 cases, raising the total number to 37,196 in Greece. The death toll is at 620.
Following the Greek PM’s announcement, the country’s finance minister, Christos Staikouras, listed measures of financial support for companies and citizens affected by the measures.
