Restrictions Announced for Ioannina Airport, Serres Landing Fields Due to Covid-19

The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) has announced new aviation directives (NOTAMs) regarding passenger flight restrictions from Ioannina National Airport “King Pyrros” and from the two light aircraft landing fields in the regional unit of Serres.
HCAA issued the aviation directive as the regional units of Ioannina (northwestern Greece) and Serres (northern Greece) both moved up a risk level on the country’s Covid-19 risk-assessment map to Level 4 (red).
Ioannina
According to the aviation directive for the “King Pyrros” airport, flights with passengers are allowed to land in Ioannina while only flight departures without passengers are permitted, ie the return of flights with crew.
Exempt from the flight restrictions at Ioannina Airport are passenger flights in transit and crews/passengers of the following flights: state flights, sanitary flights, humanitarian flights, emergency flights and military flights.
Serres
For Serres, the aviation directive says that flights are not allowed to depart outside the regional unit of Serres from the two light aircraft landing fields – Hortero and Emmanuel Pappas. Local training flights are excluded from the restriction, considered that they take place only within the regional unit of Serres.
Kastoria and Kozani airports
The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) also issued additional information regarding the NOTAMs that have been announced for the airports in Kastoria and Kozani.
According to the HCAA, passenger flights to both regional airports are allowed but only departures without passengers (return flights of an aircraft with its crew) are permitted from Kastoria and Kozani.
