Greek authorities have decided to extend the strict lockdown restrictions on the municipalities of Aspropyrgos and Elefsina in West Attica, until January 11, in efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection also announced the extension of strict lockdown measures on the municipalities of Kozani, Eordea and Voio (regional unit of Kozani) in northern Greece until January 11.

In addition, harder measures will continue to apply in the town of Paleokastro in the Municipality of Sitia on Crete until January 15; as well as in the towns of Neda, Agiochori and Ipio of the Municipality of Arriani in the regional unit of Rodopi until January 10.

Greek health authorities have also decided to impose tighter lockdown measures on the municipality of Aliartos-Thespies in the region of Viotia, starting on January 6, at 6am and until January 15, due to a rise in coronavirus cases.

Additional measures include, among others, a stricter curfew (non-essential movement is banned from 6pm until 5am) and the closure of all retail stores while all religious services are suspended.
