Study: Greeks Say Yes to Vacation Coupons to Stimulate Domestic Travel
More than half of Greeks participating in a study said they were willing to accept a vacation discount coupon in order to go on holiday as part of efforts to stimulate domestic tourism in the aftermath of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
More specifically, according to a study released this week by MARLAB, with 75 percent of all Greeks suffering a reduction in their salaries due to Covid-19, 66.45 percent said they thought the idea of travel discount coupons (also referred to as vouchers) was positive saying it would influence their intention to take a holiday in Greece this summer.
The respondents were asked if they would go on holiday somewhere in Greece if they received a government subsidy.
Additionally, of those surveyed, 71.1 percent said coupons between 200 and 400 euros would be suitable. However, when made aware of the impact of the holiday aid on state coffers, only 46.4 percent said they agreed with the action.

Asked whether they still planned to go on holiday this summer, 47 percent said they would, against 19 percent who said they wouldn’t. Another 34 percent said they had not decided.
At the same time, more than half (53,8 percent) of those polled said they are expecting hotel prices to drop with 56.2 percent saying restaurant prices will probably remain the same.
