Almost half of the Greeks will go on holiday this summer after the COVID-19 travel restrictions are lifted, an online survey conducted by MARLAB, the marketing lab of the University Macedonia, indicates.

The survey conducted 840 online interviews to consumers during April 23-25.

According to the results, 47 percent of Greek citizens plan to take a vacation this year, with 65 percent already making travel plans for August.

The vast majority – 90 percent – of those who will go holiday, chooses Greece as a summer destination; 7 percent plans to travel to Greece and abroad, while only 3 percent will travel exclusively abroad.

The duration of holidays ranges from 4 to 20 days.

Meanwhile, 19 percent of those interviewed by MARLAB said they would not take a holiday in 2020 citing financial reasons (36 percent); the coronavirus pandemic (32 percent) and increased professional obligations (22 percent).
